Well, Windows by default runs on ANSI encoding. See http://msdn.microsoft.com/de-de/library/x99tb11d(v=vs.80).aspx I think the key things is to have the same encoding for both the client in the database connection and with set locale for the Visual C runtime. Also I found a table here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/dd317756(v=vs.85).aspx May be interesting to try ".65001" for setlocale.
