Fixed your onsole typo.
High resolution on ttys is wasted making everything tiny, like you're
experiencing. So, don't run your ttys in high resolution. On a high resolution
screen, include on your kernel command line in your bootloader a video=
parameter
set to a lower resolution that produces a text size you like, so as for a
3840x2160 display, try video=2560x1440, or video=2048x1152, or video=1920x1080.
for a 2560x1440 screen with too small text, try 1920x1080, 1600x900 or
1366x768. A
video= cmdline parameter will not affect screen resolution in X unless your GPU
is
an ancient Intel and you're using the ancient Intel display driver, which you
probably shouldn't be using anyway.
