I already had put some options into /etc/default/grub (the Debian place to 
configure grub) like

GRUB_GFXMODE=1024x768x16
GRUB_TERMINAL=console

I may try your suggestion next, too.

I have configured switchable X modes along my default in xorg.conf, it will be 
fine
