3.      Forum USA - register by 3/30

Register by March 30.
The Office for Science and Technology at the Embassy of France in the
United States holds the yearly "Forum USA".
This event provides an opportunity to bring together students and
French companies.
Over the years, this event has evolved into the most significant
recruitment forum of its kind in North America.

The Forum lasts one week. In the course of Forum USA 2004, 100 recent
university graduates met with representatives from 40 French
companies, associations and research institutes. The Forum USA will
make candidates' resumes available to the exhibitors and will
schedule interviews for them.

Forum USA 2006 will be held in Berkeley (April 11th & 12th).

6.      Theologis Lab at Plant Gene Expression - Position Open

The Theologis Lab at the Plant Gene Expression Center has one
position open for an undergraduate student working towards a degree
in computer science or molecular biology.

TITLE:  Assistant IV

ORGANIZATION:  Plant & Microbial Biology / PGEC

QUALIFICATIONS:
Undergraduate student working towards a degree in computer science or
molecular biology.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Java programming experience; good communications skills; ability to
solve problems creatively and independently.
Experience in any or all of the following areas is desired:  SQL,
database programming, and database design; web programming in PHP;
Unix (Solaris and Linux) system administration and server
configuration;  tools and database for computational molecular
biology and bioinformatics.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Under the supervision of the full-time informatics staff, the student
will:  write and maintain Java code for processing of biological data
(data collection, automation, sequence analysis, and integration with
external software and databases);  build and maintain relational
databases; write and maintain dynamic Web content; aid with
administration  of Unix servers, Unix workstations, and Macintosh and
Windows PCs; assist students and researchers with their computer
needs.  The student is expected to actively develop an understanding
of the biological problems being addressed in the lab and the
computational tools needed to solve them.
