Laboratory Assistant I position available : 10-15 hours /week. Provide support for MCB 's undergraduate teaching laboratories during the fall semester 2006. Job duties include: Perform laboratory maintenance such as general glassware and tissue culture glassware washing, autoclaving, sterilization of media, packaging and disposal of wastes, and general classroom cleaning. Set out experimental materials and assemble experimental apparatus according to preparation protocols. Restock experimental materials and clean laboratory classrooms between lab sessions. Assist in disassembly of experimental setup at the end of the lab exercise: clean classrooms thoroughly and put away equipment and unused supply item. Run errands among departmental administrative offices and teaching laboratories Pick up and distribute mail and packages and perform light office duties such as photocopying and filing. Qualifications: Required: An organized style in the execution of these tasks is essential. Must have good manual dexterity and concern for detail. Moderate lifting required. The person must be able to work morning hours. Helpful: Familiarity with laboratory procedures and sterile technique.
