It's a 3 minute film, a high definition, just over 1 Gb quicktime file. It's on the hard drive of a Mac Pro (for smaller files a Mac Mini might work) and the Mac is set to loop. So, there's no need to have a DVD and there will be no DVD player wearing out. In our set up it's fed through a projector onto a 10 foot wide screen. The installation opened to the public last night. We'll see how it performs non stop over the next three months. If you want detailed specs, let me know. We are looking into including some digital films in an exhibit off-site and in a public space. I think remotes and mice would walk away and/or break frequently. Budget is, of course, a concern. Here are the two ideas we have so far. #1 - Touchscreen monitors that gives the visitor the option to play one of four or five videos. (This is my favorite.) #2 - A TV or Monitor connected to a DVD player that is on a loop. (I don't know if this is even possible.) Are there other ways to deliver the videos? Can you share your experiences with video in an exhibit?
