Hi all We have just installed a 24" iMac with wireless keyboard and remote. This has been running a 10 min QuickTime time-lapse since March 1 and has worked really well. Front of house staff do have to add it to the list of things to turn on and off, but the Mac is a very simple set up and looks great.
I also have a question for the group, we are developing an exhibition that will include approximately 8 short films dotted throughout the space. Is there some form of technology that has been developed that can use one hard drive and 8 different point of displays showing 8 the 8 different films? Obviously, if possible it would be preferred to have one hard drive and 8 monitors rather than 8 players and 8 monitors. We are trying to avoid the cinema experience where there is a central point to watch all films. Any assistance is appreciated Kind regards Vanessa Keenan Museum of the Riverina Wagga Wagga www.wagga.nsw.gov.au/museum -----Original Message----- From: mcn-l-bounces at mcn.edu [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Melissa Johnson Sent: Friday, 16 March 2007 4:21 AM To: mcn-l at mcn.edu Subject: [MCN-L] videos in exhibits Greetings, Accidental Techie, here. We are looking into including some digital films in an exhibit off-site and in a public space. I think remotes and mice would walk away and/or break frequently. Budget is, of course, a concern. Here are the two ideas we have so far. #1 - Touchscreen monitors that gives the visitor the option to play one of four or five videos. (This is my favorite.) #2 - A TV or Monitor connected to a DVD player that is on a loop. (I don't know if this is even possible.) Are there other ways to deliver the videos? Can you share your experiences with video in an exhibit?
