Susan, We are using this feature on ipad minis. The deployment is initially set through a profile in the Meraki management tool. This sets the Guided Access but like Kyle stated, if the device locks up or needs to be hard/soft booted, it can lose the lock. Triple click is working for us.

Sometimes it stays in the app just fine, but if the app crashes or the iPod runs out of battery it can get out of Guided Access. Another alternative is to use Apple Configurator (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/apple-configurator/id434433123?mt=12), this allows you to really lock down a device into a specific app. We have found this to work much better at keeping the users out of other functionality. Additionally you can use this to lock down the devices and setup wifi and other device settings.
