Yeah, but that still means another loss in quality. It's
probably not much, but if you take it to the extreme,
Analog -> Wav -> MP3 -> Upsampling -> Atrac is a lot of
conversion.

Hmm, I thought that was because it's targeted at gamers,
I assume you own this card and know for sure ? Having the
option of digital input for later is critical for me, though.
Right now it seems like getting a standard Live! Value
plus a digital I/O board would be the better choice ?
