I wouldn't write off the Creative SB Live range, my new Player 1024 card
is fantastic, has the connections for a digital I/O board, and has it's
own spdif digitial out (3.5mm coax jack, i think)

Being a genuine Creative Labs product maximises compatability, none
of this sort of SB compatabile stuff. I need SB16 compatability first,
second and third. And fourth comes SB16 compatability :-P

Okay I'm not utilising the card fully, but it works and thats wot i want,
rather than a dodgy 3rd party manufacturer shifting cards with a very iffy
chipset. As I say i don't know ne thing about the Player 1024's digital
out-- type, frequency, even if it only echoes the digital CD audio jack!
When I need full digital I/O I'll get the add-on card.

Oh and while I'm here, can I say a combo of a k6-3/400 cpu and the
creative savage4 32mb agp card really rocks, even with old 60nS edo
simms. When I stick PC100 dimms in I expect it to *SCREAM*

Cheers,
PrinceGaz -> happy he no longer needs to worry about his PC freezing
