I don't feel that MD was invented for any particular genre in music, it's
just that the general audience has a preference for popular music I guess.
Just like when CD was invented, it wasn't created simply for classical
music.
As far as the clarity is concerned, I think that MD is more than suitable
for classical pieces and I've certainly heard evidence of that. Almost any
decent brand and model will do in terms of a portable recorder, with an
obvious bias on my part towards Sony's range of recorders.
Quite frankly, you're being a little over-analytical of the situation. Go
out there and get some demonstrations and hear for yourself what the format
is all about. I think you'll love it.
Adios,
LarZ

Subject: MD: Recording Classic Music on MD
I wonder whether anyone out there has any experience with using a MD
in the way I intend to, and whether they could enlighten me about this
medium's suitability for my needs in terms of here sound quality -
hopefully relieving my worries.
