Nope. What comes out of the optical jack on one unit is 100% identical to
what comes out of the optical jack on another. That is the entire point of
digital interlink: no signal loss or corruption.
The only reason to buy a new CD-ROM mechanism is because you feel the one
you have now is too slow reading data.
