I really don't see how the cost of memory could ever drop that low. I think in
5 years you might be looking at $20 instead of $100. Maybe at best. So that
will still make solid state unpracticed. (Even at $10 it is too high)

I don't see how you are going to get the original Mp3 file without a computer
being involved in the process some how. If you are talking about just storing
compressed files, such as ATRAC does, that is very possible. But you still have
that $100 price tag.

The first thing that has to be made clear is whether you are just referring to
solid state as a media replacing the MD, rather then the whole Mp3 thing. If
that is the cae the only problem I can see is cost. It. took years for the mini
disc to drop from $17.00 to $2.50.
