Where did you buy yours and how much did you pay, if I may ask?? As far
as the optical output goes, I have a coaxial to digital converter that I
bought from Nate White, who is on the Md list. With shipping to the US,
I think the price was still under S40.
I have a receiver now that has 2 optical and 2 coaxial in and outs, so
I'm not sure if I even need the converter any more. I'm pretty sure
that I have already used the coaxial out from my DVD player to the
receiver and then used the optical out to my portable MD recorder.
One big question. When the unit is copying CDs to MD, does it do it by
direct digital transfer? If it only copies analog, then I don't think
I'd want one. Maybe it's just a psychological thing with me, but I do
all of my copying in digital only.
But the fact is that when I got my first MD recorder (Sony MZ-1) I had
to wait for them to special order the digital cable, so I made some MDs
in analog. They sounded fine to me. But then again everyone hates the
way the MZ-1 with ATRAC 1 sounded and I didn't think it was that bad.
It all depended upon the system you used to listen to it on.
Thanks,
Larry
