I'd sure hope so!

Sorry, that was completely unclear - maybe I should have read the message
twice before hitting send. ;-) I should have said "use my Clie to
record something in place of what I signed out". So, what happens when
you cannot sign your music back in? Based on how I use my MD recorder,
blowing away the data on a memory stick and recording something else is a
likely possibility. And, as far as I can tell, this is a legitimate use
of everything involved since I'm not copying the music to someone else.

This is my main problem with this system - there are too many unknowns for
me to trust it. I know that if I copy a CD to MD that I can do it as many
times as I need to. I don't have to consider the implications of a
signin/signout system when I want to make a quick recording.

I'll definately consider it. One advantage I can see for a genuine Palm
over something else running PalmOS is expandability. I already have a
portable keyboard and the hard case for my Vx. If I got a Clie to replace
it, I'd definately need a keyboard, which Sony doesn't seem to have yet.
I also wouldn't mind a GPS reciever and some mapping software, which is
available for the Vx, for when I'm on the road.

I must say though, I'm taking a look at Sony's site for it right now...
Damn does that look nice! The included travel adapter is something that I
seriously wish Palm would have done.

Yeah, its that comparison to MD that ruins it all, isn't it? ;-)
Besides, considering how small the R900 is and how much music it can put
on a disc, why would I want to use a handheld computer for it? (as I try
to justify sticking with Palm and fail miserably)

In any case, this has certainly thrown a twist into my upgrade plans. I
guess the only thing to do is wait since the Clie really appeals to me,
but currently lacks some things that I'd have a hard time living without.
