That's what I thought you were saying, it was clear enough so don't
berate yourself :)
As far as I'm aware, there's no way around it. But then, the MS Walkman
and Clie don't have line in, and I doubt you could record regardless.
But I definitely see the problem - maybe the files are write-protected,
and can only be restored by signing in?

Definite advantage in an existing system. Having said that, Targus have
a stowaway keyboard out for the Clie now, Sonystyle have cases (as well
as the thousands of other cases that will fit), and Sony are working on
fingerprint recognition, GPS and camera modules for the MS slot.

Heh, that's one of the arguments both for and against.
For: I don't need to carry my 900 when I need a handheld and an hour of
music.
Against: why pay more when I have my 900?
Confuses the issue, certainly :)

Exactly my conclusion. It's got a jog dial, music playing, great
screen, but it's got some issues.
I suppose I'll wait for an iPAQ killer (new Psion?) with a MS slot, and
everything else to satisfy my wanton hardware lusts! :)
If you do end up getting one, maybe you'll let me or the list know? I'd
be interested in your viewpoint on it. Particularly on whether or not
low-bitrate ATRAC3 really does outperform 128kbps MP3... a thorny
subject on the Clie boards.
