I haven’t tried a Yoga yet but I’ve had good luck with this low powered usb
adaptor with the new Dell tablets.

Hmm, interesting. We have that issue too, but its separate. Our’s presents
itself with our pre-boot authentication with our encryption product. Sometimes
you can boot up and the adapter isn’t there, other times it works fine. We have
found sometimes you have to shut down entirely to get it to come up.

For me it doesn’t seem to be a timing issue. It doesn’t detect the adapter at
all. I have to unplug and plug it back in (sometimes several times) before I
can see the network adapter show up after a reboot.

It could be the same issue, we did not see it on our Windows 8 image though.
Its easy to test, build a machine, after it completes the setup windows and
configmgr step and reboots into Windows, hit F8 and see if you get an IP. Wait
2-3 minutes and check again if you don’t.

The issue is the NIC doesn’t initialize in time after that first reboot into
Windows.

Known issue on the Yoga. Happens on the ThinkPad adapter too. Only happens on
win7 not win8.

We have a ticket open with Lenovo on it. There is a TechNet thread on it too.

Months ago I purchased a Startech USB-to-Ethernet dongle because people were
saying it worked well for imaging. Driver is inbox and just works with WinPE.
I successfully imaged a Dell Venue tablet without any issues and thought I’d be
able to use it on our Thinkpad Yoga’s when we got them in. Well they’re in and
while it works ok at the start of the deployment it seems to lose it when you
reboot. The deployment gets stuck saying it can’t connect to deployment share
after the first reboot. Thoughts?
