I'd suggest always using the Trim method (VBScript or PowerShell) when reading
the Model from WMI. Some older Dell's I know (possibly other vendors) had a lot
of empty spaces trailing the actual model name which totally hosed scripts
unless you accounted for that.

Subject: RE: [MDT-OSD] list of Makes/Models...

Thanks for the update,

A couple of requests:

* Machine readable lists are great. I often put such things into excel.
Right now this list would take a couple dozen copy/paste operations to get into
excel.

* I could use exact Model strings too. HP is bad at this, sometimes
"HP" other times "Compaq" The Optiplex 380 also has some problems against the
rest of dell machines.

Thanks to those who sent me make/model strings. I was able to create a script
to re-construct most Make and Models from the Dell Driver Catalog for my MDT
Litetouch Driver import tool.

Thanks!

Many thanks for posting the link Maik.

I am updating the list as and when I discover missing models.

Keith, if you or anyone else has any to add that aren't on the list feel free
to ping them over and I'll update the list and credit the contributors ;-)

Kind regards,
Cliff

Cliff started a similar list on FAQShop some time ago. Not sure how up to date
it is, but here the link:

Subject: [MDT-OSD] list of Makes/Models...

Can I persuade a Config Mgr Admin for a list of Computer Makes/Models as
queried from the BIOS/Firmware? Hopefully a broad unique list of Makes and
Models for current machines. Lenovo's, HP's, Dell's, more?

I've been working on some Driver management solutions for an OS Deployment
system(LTI & ZTI), but my hardware lab is quite limited right now, so it's hard
to create a structured driver system without the correct make/models.

(and of course because Lenovo... ComputerSystemProduct)
gwmi -query "select Manufacturer,Model FROM Win32_ComputerSystem"
gwmi -query "select Version FROM Win32_ComputerSystemProduct"

Thanks in advance,
