We are using Rubbermaid carts and Metrologic 2D
scanners. The Rubbermaid carts received unanimous support/approval
from the nursing staff when we did an on site trial and I have heard nothing
negative since we put them into service about a month ago.
Our Pharmacy purchased a new packaging machine from
Medical Packaging, Inc for around 10K.
As we have a laptop on the Rubbermaid med carts,
the nursing staff need to take the cart/laptop to the bedside to be able to
scan the med and the patient - regardless of how many medications they are
giving. It kind of destroys the purpose for BMV if they do not scan as
many doses as possible.
