Title: [MEDITECH-L] FW: NDC #'s for BMV
I am sorry to tell you that we use the Quick Add Alt. NDC.  When we check in our drug order, every item
is scanned to see if it matches something in our drug file.  If not, it is added.

Subject: NDC #'s for BMV

We are in the very initial stages of BMV implementation. When testing
the scanner on some bar codes from prepackaged unit dose drugs, I found
that they all lack the initial zero in the official 11 digit format.
Additionally, some of the bar codes I scanned have a prefix. Obviously,
none of them matched up with the correct 11 digit NDC number in my drug
dictionary which needs to kept perfect in order for fomulary service to
work. Is there any way to program a scanner to be compatible with the
standard NDC number format? Please don't tell me that I must use the Add
Alt. NDC# routine to add these bogus NDC's for every single drug in the
dictionary. Thanks.
