And...if I remember correctly, there is a parameter setting of "remove temp location" after X amount of time, I think in OE. If you have concerns that staff will never remember to undo the temp locate.....and believe me, they never remember, it's best to set this parameter.

The easiest thing is for the sending unit to enter a TEMPORARY LOCATION of "ICU". THis allows BOTH areas to document on the same patient. Depending on how you have your parameters set, results will go both places, or only to the temp location. ICU can "undo" the temp location later that day.

We are a Magic 5.4 SR3 site.
We recently changed our MIS user dictionary page 3 for most inpatient
nursing staff to restrict by location of the machine. This has also
presented a problem for transfers to the ICU following a code or change
in condition. I have been tasked with finding out if there is any
workaround for documentation after a patient has transferred to another
location. Currently, the nurse from the prior unit has to go to ICU to
document on the patient once they have transferred over to ICU.
Any help or suggestions are appreciated. We have no intentions of
changing the MIS dictionary setup back to not restricting by location.
Just wanted to see if anyone else has had to deal with this issue and if
you have anything in place that might help.
Thanks.
