Kevin, I don't have a problem with your mentioning any website in response to a request from this list. As has been mentioned having multiple resources available is a good thing. I just believe that many of us were surprised when a couple of the items in your poll seemed to put down the "L". Each resource has its strengths and weaknesses. I've been to many web resources for Meditech, and hadn't seen any negative comments toward the "L". I accept your explanations that you didn't intend those items to be negative. Hopefully you can accept that on first glance they appeared negative to some of us. Hi Daniel- Although Kevin Boldt and I are not card dealers, we never intended for any negativity to hit the L. I have been a long time user and still participate today...without mention of MeditechTalk.com in my responses. In fact, in a response to a peer about the networking possibilities for the MEDITECH professional your site was one I regard as quite helpful. I have used your site in the past in search of an attribute to use in a CDS I was working on. I also noticed you listed your site name in your response - is that using the L to get your website name out? I personally don't think so - my point is that our website will stand on it own merits and strength. In less than one week we have nearly 300 members and over 20,000 hits! That's huge...at least in our world. Thanks again, and continued success with your personal venture. Kevin. Kevin McConnell, PharmD. The meditech-l web site is MTUsers.com ====================================== Well Julia, I would be surprised if this MeditechTalk website ever really grows into something strong. Some years ago I started www.itnurse.net, a web site with all the potential to be a place where we Meditech folks could share. There are now 1,385 members signed up on that site. But fully about 10 have actually submitted something to the site. Most have used it as a reference place. I believe that most of us like the fact that stuff hits our in box and we can be reminded of issues and solutions without having to take the time to go somewhere to make it happen. On the other hand, searching the archives of the L is not as user friendly or as helpful in producing results as it could be. But, I really think it is dealing off the bottom of the deck to bad mouth the L to try and get your website known and frequented! The meditech-l web site is MTUsers.com ====================================== I just saw the reference to www.MeditechTalk.com in another message, so naturally I checked it out. First, let me make it clear that I'm not affiliated in any way with either the Meditech-L list or the MeditechTalk web site, so what I have to say is my opinion and mine alone. I'm also not sending this to the L to start anything or cause trouble, but the L is our primary tool for communication and I wanted to share my observations with all of you. The Meditech-L references on MeditechTalk struck me as negative and unnecessary. I quote: "If you were tired of receiving HUNDREDS of emails every day from a certain List, then this site is for YOU! Instead of searching THOUSANDS of DISCONNECTED emails and messages, you can search through a neatly organized website!" In a survey on the Home page, the first two answers to the question "Why will you join the Meditech Talk community?" are "Cannot find anything on the L-List" and "My In Box is too full of L-List messages". I couldn't find any responsible parties' names on the web site, so I don't know who has created it but it might be a good idea. I don't like the impression of competition between a web site and a list, though. I don't like the impression of 'negative campaigning' that these comments give. Huh. I've still been poking around on the web site and I do see that the site admin has a web site listed: Website: http://www.RPhInformatics.com. And . . . the original reference to MeditechTalk came from [EMAIL PROTECTED] So I guess RPHInformatics is the creator/owner/operator of MeditechTalk. And . . . RPHInformatics.com is still "under construction". Curiouser and curiouser. . . Julia Julia F.
