This is sent as a one time dose to the emar. Only those drugs that actually need administered during off hours are entered via over ride. If the drug is to be continued - pharmacy enters a new order once they are on site. We have acknowledge medication at this time set to Warn not Prevent. The reason behind this is that not all units are up and the staff must document against orders coming from the ED and Out Patient setting for those patients admitted post Op from this area. Currently they do a non-admin with the selection of Procedural Medication - Refer to Chart. They have been really good at dealing with these medications. If not documented against the drugs would continue to show up as overdue on current eMAR - so we elected to handle in this manner. We are afraid if we force them to also acknowledge these drugs we would be creating enemies. The staff check the eMAR and acknowledge drugs prior to administration. This is currently being completed by the charge nurse who takes off the order. Only RNs can acknowledge drugs. We run the standard acknowledgment report daily to validate. Hope this helps Julie -----Original Message----- From: Dana Pfingstler [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, April 17, 2006 10:53 AM To: Meditech L Subject: [MEDITECH-L] BMV without 24 hour pharmacy (Magic 5.4) All messages should be posted in plain text.
