We have EDM with RXM running.  Have been using EDM for 2 years with 100% CPOE; just moved to RXM for discharge prescription writing a few months ago.  Previously used an OV product for Rxs.

No small task (and I wasn't the one to set it up), but we had RXM set up for physician office practices, EDM utilization was the icing on the cake.

Basically, the EDM docs are pleased with the exception of:

1.  Complaints of too many 'pop-up' warnings for dose/interaction/allergy checking (depends on set-up, but docs seem to complain ANYTIME they get a pop-up), and
2.  Not all drugs contain a drug monograph.

Upsides:
1.  Our clinical record has documentation of the Rxs givent to the patient.  Before RXM we relied on the docs to manually record it in their documentation
2.  We use the EDM PIC (Patient Instruction Content) and it contains a record of the Rxs given the patient.  It prints the monograph as well (if one exists) on the patient instructions.
3.  No extra cost associated with it since we licensed RXM.  Previously we were paying a license fee for the OV product.

Hope this helps.  I'd be happy to discuss further.

Hello everyone.
I don’t really hear a lot about the RXM module  so I am wondering if its either:
1. Piece of cake-no problems
2. Piece of ...well you know.
Anyway, after spending many moons building and rebuilding these dictionaries and saying to myself "our docs are never going to use this." I was wondering who may be using this and what has its ups and downs been.
Any successes?
Failures?
Worth the effort?
We went live with EDM about 6 months ago and now they want to implement the RXM module.
Your thoughts and comments would be appreciated.
Thanks
Diane
