Tony,

I agree about the scarcity of information about the PoC hardware needs.

>From what we have been told regarding using PDA's and PCM, we will need to
install:
- a web server
- an authentication server
- implement the Meditech Internet Gateway

For us, since we are using NetAccess, we feel that the MIG is a waste of
time since its capabilities are so minimal, BUT, MIG seems to be a
requirement for using PDA's. That's the fragmented knowledge that we have
been given.

IF anyone can add some more pieces to this puzzle, please jump into this
conversation.

Thanks.

Doug

Subject: [MEDITECH-L] Point of Care - Hardware needs?

For those of you using or going to Point of Care. We are trying to get a
handle on hardware needs. Obviously we need PDA's which we are looking at.
Our confusion is Meditech's "wireless server". What do they mean by this?
Asking them is like the game of 20 questions. Operations have washed their
hands of it and our nursing consultant isn't much help on hardware and
networking, just that they rely on the site's I.T. department. So far all I
know is that the "wireless server" is where the PoC software resides and
that the PDA's communicate with this, then the PoC application on the
"wireless server" communicates to Meditech.

So the questions are:

What is the "wireless server"? All our consultant tells us is a
"souped up PC".
The PDA's use terminal services or Citrix. Do we need T.S. licenses
for each of the PDA's to connect to the "wireless server"?

Thanks for any info provided.
