Charlie,
We stopped using the Fix DC function in
pharmacy about a year ago because of the gyrations you described in order
to
have the med available in
Pyxis.

Had
an order that showed up as active on the Pyxis console, yet didn't show up on
the Pyxis machine on the floor. Came to find out that a pharmacist had used the
fix DC function and the order originally had a stop date that had kicked in to
DC the Rx. Number one, a fix DC does not throw an order back on the profile in
the console or on the machine on the floor, You have to do a limited edit (don't
have to really change anything) first. Then, if the item had a stop date, you
have to go to the console, pull up the patient date, click on the order, and
click edit. You'll notice that Pyxis gives every order a stop date of one year
unless the order was given a stop date in Meditech. A fix DC does not change the
stop date on the console - you'll have to change it to a year yourself. Then the
order will show up on the machine on the floor. Evidently, changing a stop date
in Meditech does not change it on the Pyxis console.
Has anyone run into this problem and
is there a way to keep this from happening? If there isn't, I thought it would
be good to make everyone aware of the potential problem.
