Now that We have been live with C/S 5.5 sr2 for a few months, we are considering applying specimen type barcodes to a very few tests to assure the test is run on the proper specimen type (e.g. serum vs. plasma). Li is a good example since our normal chemistry specimen is lithium heparin. We want to make sure Li is run only on a serum tube. Does anyone have advice to this end? What pitfalls should we watch for?
