I can sort of see your reasoning if you want to enter the allergies into the
patient's profile because they would flow over to a dispensing machine profile
and maybe prevent someone from pulling a first dose of morphine on over-ride on
a patient that is morphine allergic.
In reality, it is all we can do to update the allergies at the time of entering
the order. But maybe you could
copy the PATIENT ALLERGY REPORT in the pha reports and delete the pieces that
you don't need. Then set it up to print patient's information only if
information in the OE query field for allergies changed in the last hour. (I
wouldn't know how to do this, but I think it would be possible)
let me know if it works. I might have another use for something along that
line. Thanks Cindy

Re:
[MEDITECH-L] MRI allergy alert to pharmacy
Eric - I'm not sure that I understand. A prompt to update allergies only comes
up if someone has changed something in the administrative data screen in
nursing. Also, why would you want a report, since you are prompted to update
anytime you attempt to enter a medication after a change to the administrative
data screen. As far as the allergies appearing, this comes from your customer
defined parameters (PHA Pat Cus Def Screen PHAPAT). The only real problem
for pharmacy is that if a patient's allergy information hasn't been updated
during the current admission, you will not be flagged and you can't tell because
of demo recall. Also, you are prompted to updata if Ht and Wt are changed,
which has nothing to do with allergies.

Subject: [MEDITECH-L] MRI allergy alert to pharmacy
All,
I am trying to figure out what causes Meditech to display the MRI allergy
screen to pharmacists at the onset of order entry when the MRI allergies have
been updated. One of our initiatives is to get the pharmacy (coded) allergies
entered ASAP after MRI allergies are entered/updated. But we don’t want to
wait until we try to enter an order for the notification. So what I would
like to do is to set up a report to run hourly, include the algorithm regarding
the pharmacy alert, and inform the pharmacists of patients that need the coded
allergies updated.
Any clues?

For those sites who have converted bad debt as part of your AR conversion, how
many years of bad debt did you convert?
Thanks for your input.
