Disadvantage: In order for a physician to use Self-Assign... he must
have an unrestricted access (page 3 of the MIS User Dictionary). This
means he can not be restricted by user or group. Since this can not be
defined, if he uses the ID Method of "by Provider Group patients in a
bed" or "provider patients".... it does not default to their group or
their own user. So now he must define this every time! (A MAJOR pain
for them!)

Meditech has a custom that will look into the provider dictionary and
by default highlight the provider's group once in the look-up. This
helps a lot... but when we got this custom, we failed to ask for the
same functionality in the "by Provider Patients in a bed". (Can't win
for losing!)

Good luck,

Is anyone using "Self Assign" functionality in PCI? We are MAGIC 5.5
SR1.

Advantages? Disadvantages?

Thanks in advance,
