Hi, Mary,

When I was at my old hospital, I moved out of IT into PFS and Revenue
Management. I went from full IT access to group access for my security
group and was responsible for menu changes, etc. If one of my Directors
wanted more access than was the IT policy, I evaluated the request and
involved IT in the decision. If there was a good business reason for
the change, it was generally approved. If there wasn't a good business
reason, I talked to the Director to find out exactly what he/she was
trying to achieve. We did have Directors who insisted on full access
when it wasn't justified; that decision ultimately went to a VP for
review. IT usually recommended "full access" without dictionary access.
However, Directors don't have menu access in MIS.

Hope this helps!

Julia

Subject: [MEDITECH-L] Super User Abiltities

Are there any hospitals that allow Super Users access to set up users in
their departments, change menus, and emulate people in their group? We
have their access set to group but it still allows them the ability to
make any changes they want as far as menus. How do you handle Directors
that want full access to all the Meditech menus and user access? Has
anyone found a way in Meditech Magic to enforce the complex password
requirement when Meditech only allows Alpha Numeric passwords?
