Have you considered setting the intervention to default the queries? It
would default all the queries from the last documentation. They would
have to review and change. I know that we have screens we don't want to
do this for. Especially any where we have disabled the recall key for 1
or more queries. But there may be some that it would work to default
them in.

We have several screens that we use the E query. We have used the E
query for several years. The nurses I work with were asking for word
wrap before multiple queries were even around. Once the multiple query
came along, we used a macro for word wrapping. After the E query came,
we changed to the E query.

They have never complained about not being able to use the recall key.
While we do default queries on some screens that have E queries, we
don't for several others.

In my opinion, not being able to use the recall key isn't necessarily a
bad thing. I have seen several instances of where responses aren't
changed when they use the default key as they just keep hitting the F5
and the enter key without paying the attention they should. A 2 finger
process. Goes really fast. I don't teach any nurses that I train about
the recall key but they learn about it anyway.

As we change screens, etc, we are using the macro to block the F5 key
more and more. We don't block it on every query, just the ones that we
really don't want them to just recall. Such as alternatives to
restraints, interventions they did for fall prevention, etc.

Good luck. My experience has been that attributes don't really work
with E type queries though I believe Iatrics has been able to do some so
maybe they have some ideas for you.

Subject: [MEDITECH-L] E type queries in NUR

Hi all,

We started using the E queries for wrapping text in NUR CDS but found
very quickly that the staff were unable to F5 the last documented data
with this type of query. Meditech reports that F5 is not able to work
with E queries and I was wondering if any one has a custom or solution
to this. Currently, we have had to revert back to C queries (non
wrapping text) to solve the problem. However staff really like the
wrapping feature to make documentation easier. Any thoughts?

Many thanks,

Julie Kwan
