Hello Juanita at our facility we provide 7.5 hours of education for Order Entry, PCI and MOX for all nurses and unit clerks. When we introduce NUR we will add an additional 7.5 hours. We have a certification process which requires 45 minutes to complete during the education session. We give them hands on practice time prior to attempting the certification. We find that staff who don't have a lot of skill/comfort with using computers generally need more time to learn the system. This is often the case with more senior nurses.
Our standard is 1 teacher to 5 students, so it can be challenging when we have big classes, which is often the case. I have 2 clinical informatics specialists who teach the sessions and we get help from the applications analysts and some super users when we have large classes. good luck with your proposal.
