I am a big fan of sub forums. That being said, app development and core development should be grouped under development.
+1. This makes a lot of sense to me.
I like option 2 for the devices but the device itself should be specified in the thread title. Some devices will overlap and its always a good idea to be able to glance at what others are doing with similar devices.
Yes. I agree.
I prefer the term users over general.
Again, I agree.
I am a little unsure about what community would entail. Are we talking about events and recognitions? Does users overlap with community, while general does not?
Honestly, I've always been a little confused by the need for a Community forum. I understood it in maemo.org, but it was initially intended to be a place for the Council to communicate with the community and vice versa. Now, it contains any number of community-related issues that could be discussed in any number of other subfora.
Personally, I like the mailing list for "Community Infrastructure" (as Dawn put it. That makes more sense to me.
After all, isn't the entire meego.com framework the Community?
Last but not least, I do like the idea of design, competitors and off topic forums. Maybe there is a way to group them together and have it make sense? I do not like the term "other" on a forum. It seems lazy and confusing.
The Design forum seems to have made a major impact on talk.maemo.org. It is a good place (as good as app or core development) for people to request design help, post design work, etc. I think it is important. (But, then again, I am a designer.)
Likewise, an Off Topic forum, in my experience as a community manager, is healthy for any online Community. People need a place to chat, play forum games, and talk about things that don't relate to the overarching framework.
Since that only leave Competitors, then it is logical that it needs its own forum. But, I could be argued into combining it with Off Topic.
