This kind of integration must be designed from the ground-up (mailing list aren't rocket science but aren't easy either), otherwise you're going to run into serious problems. If it really works (which I doubt, since it seems an afterthought) it's the holy-grail: no more going to a clumsy web interface to fetch the same messages over and over and reply to new messages.
