Nokia and Intel *have* changed vendors mentality and they keep changing it with projects like MeeGo no matter how long this thread goes. Adrian, if you want to change any mentality then this is not the best place since all here we are convinced already. You could invest your time seeing how to convince Imagination & co that open drivers would be beneficial for their business.
