Have you ever tried Fennec 1.0 actually on the N900? It is _very, very, very_ slow, compared to the builtin browser (which is also gecko based, btw). It is so slow that it is more or less unusable. The builtin browser shows that you can build a fast and usable browser (for mobile) based on gecko. Fennec does not show this, in its current form. Also have to note that there are some webkit based browsers for the N900 (midori, tear), neither of them is as usable, fast, slick and as well productized as the builtin browser of the N900.
