I think it's very important for users to be able to customize their devices since themes effectively change the whole look of the device and it's applications. That's where the custom themes come into the picture since I personally think that one or two stock themes will never be enough. There should be relatively simple way for theme artists to create themes for MeeGo.
In Maemo world the theme artist can download a tar-archive of a template theme and then replace the template files with their own and modify the debian build scripts. Then just use dpkg-buildpackage and finally submit the output files to the maemo.org autobuilder. Autobuilder will slice the theme and create an installable package and upload it to the repository. As far as I know, MeeGo uses vector SVGs for the elements instead of bitmaps, doesn't it? And there are the two user interfaces, mobile and desktop, that require different theme versions effectively doubling the work, right? And straight to the point, is there a way to create themes for the current MeeGo platform or is this still under development? -- View this message in context: http://n3.nabble.com/Custom-themes-in-MeeGo-tp683406p683406.html Sent from the meego-dev mailing list archive at Nabble.com. _______________________________________________ MeeGo-dev mailing list [email protected] http://lists.meego.com/listinfo/meego-dev
