Your question is a bit confusing (at least to me). Harri's team is
working on taking the MeeGo Core + Handset UX releases (100% open
source) and making them to work in the N900 hardware. Until now they
have released a 100% free image (freedom at the expense of some
functionality/performance) and an image with binaries provided by Nokia
(functionality/performance at the expense of some freedom).

As far as I know the proprietary binaries used are already present in
Maemo 5 since they belong to their N900 hardware adaptation.
