I think I can speak for the oFono part, at least. Some things are not
working because oFono support of the N900 modem is lacking.
Specifically, SMS and SIM PIN don't yet work, but GPRS, voice calls,
network registration, USSD, certain supplementary services and some
SIM functionality should be working.

Another part that is missing from oFono currently is proper modem HW
wakeup. We're working on an N900 plugin for this at the moment along
with adding proper flight mode support into oFono core. This should
remove the need to use any Maemo 5 closed components (sscd, IIRC) with
the MeeGo image to control the modem HW.

Then there are some features that are not supported in oFono at the
moment, for which Maemo 5 has support. Nothing major, but for instance
support for network time (NITZ) indications are currently missing. The
oFono team is working on adding such things, and for instance, radio
mode (Dual, 2G, 3G) support was recently added, and this is also
working on the N900.
