Hello all,
Being a moblin user, I am very pleased about the first meego release for
netbooks, I have it up and running on my asus 1005HA without any real
issues.
These are my personal findings:
- I am really excited about the speed!
- I do not know if I really like the "candy-store" look and feel, maybe
I am spoiled by the moblin look and feel, somehow moblin chose a UI
design that doesn't feel out of place in a business environment. My
advice would be to be more subtle with the "happy" colors.
- The chromium browser doesn't match the general user experience. The
icon is clearly distinguishable from the other icons, not matching the
same shape/color scheme. The menubar and tabs are different from the
other dialogs.
- The big "meeGo" logo in the top-left of the dropdown panel looks odd.
Moblin used to have a clock and calendar there. I find that it is clear
enough that it is meego, no need to shout the name in the bar. Maybe it
is because I personally do not like displaying names and logo's too
much, same reason why I don't by t-shirts with D&G written on the chest
or "Abercrumbie" all over my shoulders..
I would really to read about design strategies, why are certain colors
chosen, what are the plans for the future, what general feeling do we
want to display with meego. Is there some information about this anywhere?
