Hi Barry When I have had this problem in the past with Skype I have opened the Skype Options button/panel on the bottom left and found I had to deselect the allow skype to control my sound panel. I cannot remember now whether Meego uses alsa ( not at meego computer now) but if it does you can then use Alsa to sort your mic settings.
