Where it does come in is that private users today cannot be reached by IPv4 unless they go through servers. The issue is that (a) I don't like any of the existing chat applications, even the one included with MeeGo, and (b) I don't like having to go through servers for 1-1 chat. Routing chat through servers adds privacy concerns and security concerns - you have to trust the servers. This project addresses both of these issues. I don't think there are any big hurdles, it just needs to be done.
