Criticism of Connman :

I can do that too: (joke)

but seriously...
at the time that we integrated connman into moblin2, networkmanager was
just unworkable. I had previously myself done attempts to port network
manager to another distro, and given up on the terrible mess of
dependencies. Connman gave us the features we needed and fast, and it
had the right design to begin with.
Things have perhaps gotten a lot better (with NM), but, with the
features the connman team were able to implement at short time we were
feeling much more confident that connman is the right platform to go
forward.
So, realistically, networkmanager is a passed station right now. All the
UI components integrate with connman already, and connman has the right
plugin structure in place to do all sorts of other cool stuff we can use
in various UI components. It'd be a major step back to just redo that in
networkmanager...
So, if someone wants to spend their time porting networkmanager, I'm not
going to stop them. But, chances are that the default MeeGo images will
be using connman for a very long time.
Concluding, if you want certain features from the default networking
stack in MeeGo, better go look at making them work in connman.
Cheers,
Auke
