Hardware support (non-SSE3, ATI, nVidia, etc) is probably number one reason. Alternative applications would be number two. And there are still stuff ConnMan + its MeeGo UI are not able to handle (WPA2 enterprise for instance..) And moreover, it is still much easier for "community" people to hack on their current distribution.
