Greetings all, First, I appreciate Dawn's prior championship of this activity and all of the useful contributions from community members in shaping the MeeGo Community device program [1].
There have been a number of intersting proposals and I am about to synthesize them into a single metaproposal so that we can get rolling. The only thing left unresolved is the issue of device redistribution.� That is, if someone is holding a device they are not using then the preference would be that they pass it on to someone who will.� Note that the scenarios below assume an identified pool or pools of potential recipients. Possibilities: 1) device holder identifies possible candidate and pays for sending device to him or her 2) same as above except payment is provided by Entity X (unidentified at this point) 3) device holder returns to original provider for redistribution at their discretion and expense 4) device holder passes on to MeeGo Pool at his or her expense 5) same as above except payment is provided by Entity X (unidentified at this point) Note that these are not mutually exclusive.� In some scenarios devices could be returned to original provider while in others they may be sent on by other means.� NDAs would be one likely driver. Problems with the above possibilites are: 1) device holders may be reluctant to fund shipping 2) Payee not yet identified 3) None known 4) device holders may be reluctant to fund shipping; who manages pool? 5)� Payee not yet identified If I have missed anything please feel free to point it out.� Other feedback also welcome. ** NOTE: the meego-dev list was CCed as an FYI only for this email.� Please target policy discussion to meego-community.
