You seem to be slightly confused about the status of glibc vs. eglibc,
hopefully this clarifies things:

glibc [0] is GNU libc, primarily maintained by Ulrich Drepper at Red Hat.

eglibc [1] is a (semi-)fork of glibc maintained by a group coordinated by
CodeSourcery, which is more willing to accept patches, particularly those
that support what Mr. Drepper calls "embedded crap". Debian >= 6.0 uses
eglibc as its libc implementation (http://blog.aurel32.net/?p=47).
