Synchronization is a solved problem, mind you, our mail for exchange

can you point at the source code in MeeGo where this "mail for exchange"
plugin lives?
(or anywhere for that matter).

Oh and my exchange contact database contains between 80k and 120k
people. that'll take a while.....

My first thought here is, why are you trying to save your entire exchange contact database onto your phone? Surely it makes sense to only save contacts from the database you work with or contacted at some stage or by email affiliation. Storing information about people you likely will never be in contact with doesn't sound like a sane approach.

you seem to be proud of 80 seconds for 500 people.... I would absolutely
not be proud about such
a abysmal number.

What *wouldn't* be an abysmal number?
Would you be prepared to sacrifice query speed for indexing speed?

NOTE: Tracker is optimised for querying NOT for updating.

All in all, after reading this thread, I think Philip's questions are quite pertinent. I think Ivan's points are also highly relevant. Just to reiterate:

- How can we fix problems if you don't communicate them to us? We have so many communication channels it's silly (IRC, mailing lists, email, etc).

- What are your targets? We will don't have any numbers other than 80-120k contacts. What about times, etc.

 - What are you basing your move to EDS on? What targets/numbers?
