I have, and I will continue to help resolve them. I still
need a plan B, though.

I tried a few, and after spending a few minutes with each...
here's the results:
MCOMPOSITOR
===========
See BMC#17170, BMC#17446.
MATCHBOX
========
(+) meego-ux-daemon seems snappier when scrolling
(+) Xlib-style menus and dialogs work (mostly)
(+) All main application windows get maximized
(+) Apps work as expected
(~) Windows have frames and borders
(-) Some random white box keeps appearing near (0,0)
(-) meego-ux-daemon background doesn't show up,
which affects screen saver and task switcher.
XFWM4
=====
(+) Xlib-style menus and dialog work
(+) Apps work as expected
(~) Windows have frames and borders
(-) Windows are /not/ maximized
(-) meego-ux-daemon background doesn't show up,
which affects screen saver.
(-) slow startup
(-) doesn't work with meego-ux-daemon task switcher
MUTTER
======
DOA. Something about it keeps crashing meego-ux-daemon at
startup.
CONCLUSION: Matchbox is my plan B.
