I sympathize with this viewpoint, but I don't think it's very pragmatic.
Outreach isn't very effective if it only reaches people who agree with us
already.

That argument is dubious, since if "you need to log in" is a gating factor,
then email, Mattermost, and indeed XMPP are all problematic. If you mean
"an account on a specific silo", then it's simply a restatement of your
first argument.
