The Roadster (2000 Sports in Aus) clutch is a very rugged long wearing honest
performer that is a tad heavy to operate. We have to pay a lot of $ to get
something better? and even then i have my doubts whether the modern day HPM
clutch will still be going after 20 years of 150 hp pumping through it with
associated punishment. Any A grade clutch will do the job, clutches don't break
at the same rate as days gone by, so failures these days tend to be more due to
poor adjustment and even poorer habit (dumping technique & riding kill
clutches). I hate pulling gearboxes and in 1982 when i fitted the upgraded L
Series and doggy box in my daily driver, i found that the PO had installed a
2000 sports clutch that was fairly new. It's worn out the odd slave cylinder and
one clutch master in over 300K miles, but i fitted new C210 hydraulic items last
time and they're both going well. A lot of ppl on the Bluebirds List have very
different views to me and other Aussie ppl on the pros & cons of the 2000 Sports
clutch, but IMHO they're hard to beat and still good value for the $.
